Camp Joy!

We had 10 full weeks of daycamp, with field trips and swimming every day!

Prevent Blindness did eye exams:

Teachers from TISD helped us get focused each morning!

We rode the Texas State Railroad!
... 2 weeks of Red Cross swimming lessons.

...enjoying the recreation facilities of both
Marvin United Methodist Church
and First Baptist Church of Tyler.

Texas Fish Hatchery in Athens ...All-you-can-pick blueberries at Echo Springs Farms

Grace Community Church created a mini-camp just for us.

It has been raining for weeks, but next week the
Girl Scouts are promising a day called Fun in the Sun.

We went to Pine Cove Christian Camp daily for 2 weeks.

...and celebrated the Day of the Cow at Chik-fil-a.

Texas East Gymnastics led a 2-day camp that the kids loved "even more than swimming!"

To celebrate the final day, we went to Splash Kingdom!

Our teen helpers had one question:

Where do they get ...all ...that ...energy?

Summer Camp

Each summer we give children from impoverished neighborhoods and low-income families in Tyler a chance to escape their everyday lives and enjoy an opportunity to make new friends in an exciting, loving and spiritual atmosphere.

Camp Hoblitzelle, a 1,000+ acre ranch in Midlothian, TX, offers children the opportunity to swim, play sports, attend Bible classes, go horseback riding and much more. Every evening we have special programs for the campers such as Wacky Olympics, Rodeo night and a Hawaiian Luau Pool Party.

Here, children learn confidence and self-reliance; new and exciting skills such as individuals and team sports, art and team-building; and, most importantly they encounter God in a new exciting way.

It is our goal to share the love of God with each and every child that comes through our gates, and every summer many children make a decision to live a life pleasing to God here at Camp Hoblitzelle. Every day begins and ends with a focus on God. Each morning begins with a praise and worship time and Bible lesson and every evening ends with a Bible devotional at the camp’s outdoor vespers cross.

Music Conservatory

For children from Tyler interested in learning music we offer the Music Conservatory. In this program, we have two separate camps.

Junior Conservatory, a weeklong camp for 8-11 year olds, is filled with opportunities to experience new things through music. The week includes classes in brass, choir, theory and Bible study. At the end of the week, students perform a children’s musical during the graduation concert that has proved to be one of the highlights of camp.

Senior Conservatory, a four week camp for 12-18 years old, is a much more in depth month of music training. This camp allows more than 65 teens to come and learn brass, piano or drama. All delegates also attend Bible study, learn music theory and sing in a choir. A daily elective time gives the campers the opportunity to learn to play the guitar, percussion, piano and timbrels. They also participate in drama, mime dance.

It’s not all work at Conservatory though, and there are many opportunities for the young people to enjoy the facilities of Camp Hoblitzelle such as the swimming pool, horses, boats, fishing, ropes course and much more. This four-week camp is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about music in a Christian setting with other like-minded young people.

Camp Hoblitzelle also offers outside organizations and churches opportunities rent the campgrounds for functions and meeting.
