The “miracle” of Christmas can be seen on the faces of hundreds of families who come to us in Tyler each holiday season. You can see the joy of a little boy holding his first toy truck or a little girl hugging the doll for whom she has silently prayed each night. You can see the smile of single mother who proudly serves a traditional Christmas dinner to her family. You can see the comfort of a senior as he sits under his new blanket. These are all examples of the miracles we are able to perform with your help.
In the Tyler community, we offer programs such as Angel Tree and the Adopt-a-Family Program. We hold a community Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner and provide food boxes for families to have a traditional dinner in their home. All of these programs help match the Christmas wishes of children, seniors and families with donors who are able to help us fulfill them.
It is only with the help of our thousands of volunteers and donors that we are able to perform these miracles for families who might otherwise not be able to experience the joy of Christmas. Whether handing out toys to children, distributing gifts to shut-ins in hospitals and nursing homes, or providing a complete Christmas dinner to shelter residents and walk-ins, volunteers are a critical component of Christmas Assistance programs.
